NILES – The Niles boys, junior varsity basketball team fell to St. Joseph Friday night 42-55.
Niles trailed for most of the game, but showed some improvement from recent games.
"We looked a lot better, I think we had a good push in the second half from our second group," Niles coach Ivery Cross said after the game. "They pressured the point guard like we wanted to do all year."
A.J. Moore stepped up for the Vikings in the third quarter, dropping in two consecutive lay ups as his team attempted a comeback.
Zach Payne and Terrell Farrow lead all Niles scorers, netting nine points each.
Adding six points was Zach Pearson.
For St. Joseph, Matt Jewell had 16 points, Chris Jones scored 11, and Eric Robbins put up six points.
"We're improving as a team," Cross said. "We've got a long way to go, but we're getting better."
