NILES – Monday is the official kick-off of the Brandywine Pride campaign.
Anyone who would like to learn more about the financing of the proposed bond, the scope of the project and/or help with the campaign are invited to attend a meeting at 7 p.m. in the Brandywine Middle/High School media center.
On hand at the meeting will be community members, architects, construction managers and administrators to answer any questions regarding the bond proposal and discuss ways community members can become involved with the Brandywine Pride campaign.
The campaign will encourage people to support at the May 8 election the bond proposed by Brandywine Community Schools. With approval, the district would be able to generate $5.75 million to continue building renovations without increasing the current debt tax levy of 4.85 mills.
The 4.85 millage rate is scheduled to drop in July to 3.83 mills for two reasons. First, the district refinanced the 2003 bonds to get a better rate, and second new commercial and residential properties in the district have helped to increase the total value of property in the district by more than twice the rate projected for the 2003 bond.
