The Niles Lady Vikings defeated the Dowagiac freshmen and junior varsity basketball teams on Tuesday night in the season opener for both schools.
The Niles freshmen team posted a 26-21 victory over the Chieftains, while the Lady Vikings junior varsity squad rolled to a 52-9 win.
Freshmen basketball
Jenna Grannell led Niles with 13 points as the Lady Vikings squeezed past Dowagiac.
The Chieftains got six points from Britnee Allerton and five points from Marcie Ennesser.
JV basketball
Autumn Lucero scored 14 points for Niles in their big victory over the Chieftains on Tuesday night.
The Lady Vikings also got eight points from Demi Schrader and seven points from Jennifer Johnson.
Kayleigh Hutchings' four points led Dowagiac. Brittany Gnatz and Tasia Diaz both scored two points.
