Dowagiac soccer team tops Cass

The Dowagiac varsity soccer team only got to play a half on Thursday night, but it was enough to defeat visiting Cassopolis, 3-0.
The match was stopped at halftime due to a thunderstorm that moved through the area.
Clay Hewitt, Adam Hess and Tony Black all scored for the Chieftains, who squared their season record at 1-1.
Hewitt scored in the 12th minute, while Hess made it 2-0 in the 24th minute. Black found the back of the net four minutes later to complete the scoring.
Dowagiac finished with 15 shots on goal compared to four by Cassopolis, which fell to 0-2.
Art Springsteen had four saves for the Chieftains, who compete in the Edwardsburg Invitational on Saturday. Dowagiac will face Sturgis at 9 a.m.
