Dowagiac Union High School Guidance Counselor, Kara Cox and former Union High School student, Janelle Swisher traveled this past weekend to Detroit and participated in the Breast Cancer 3-Day benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philantropic Trust.
The participants walk 60 miles during three days to raise breast cancer awareness and to raise money for critical research and community outreach programs.
Sandy Gower, also from Dowagiac, participated in this year's walk as a crew member. She walked in the 3-Day in 2004 and 2005.
In order to participate, each walker must train for the event and must commit to raising a minimum of $2,200.
If you would like to show your support, you can log onto www.the3day.org, choose "donate", the "Michigan" walk, and make a donation directly to Janelle Swisher's and/or Kara Cox's donation page.
