NILES - The Brandywine Bobcats remained in a tie for first place in the Lakeland Conference after their sweep of host Cassopolis on Wednesday afternoon.
The doubleheader, which was postponed from Monday, had the Lady Bobcats winning 10-0 in six innings and 11-1 in five innings.
The win improved Brandywine's record to 24-6 overall and 13-1 in the league. The Lady Rangers drop to 11-16 overall and 4-10 in the conference.
Brandywine scored four runs in the first inning of the opening game to get off to a great start.
The Lady Bobcats scored single runs in the second and third innings, and then two runs in the fifth and sixth innings to account for their scoring.
Kelli Zache tossed a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts to improve to 20-5 on the season. Zache did not walk a batter.
She helped her own cause with a pair of doubles and three RBIs.
Angela Newman had two singles, a double and a RBI for the Lady Bobcats, who also got a double from Kendra Zache to go along with a single.
In the second game, Brandywine scored twice in the first inning and then exploded for five runs in the second and four more in the third inning.
Cassopolis averted the shutout with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Kelli Zache again was the winning pitcher as she tossed a four-hitter with four strikeouts.
Kayla Green took the loss for the Lady Rangers.
Brandywine had just four hits in the game, led by Kendra Zache, who singled twice, doubled and drove in all four runs.
The Lady Bobcats are back in action on Saturday as they compete in the Clinton Invitational.
Play is scheduled to being at 9 a.m.
Brandywine will then take on arch-rival Niles on Monday at Vella Park.
The first game is slated to get under way at 4:30 p.m.
