BUCHANAN - Thanks to community support, the Tin Shop will be offering eight exceptional performances in 2006 - five theatrical productions and three single night performances.
The 2006 season has been assembled by resident director Toni Page Mayberry. A well-known figure in local theatre both acting on the stage and directing behind the scenes, Mayberry brings expertise and experience to the Tin Shop Theatre full time. The Fine Arts Council is excited to have her managing the quality of its productions along with her husband and tech director, Jay Mayberry.
Kicking off the summer season is former Buchanan resident, now nationwide entertainer, comedian Craig Tornquist. Tornquist returns May 12 and 13 to entertain with his zany stories and hilarious songs.
Golf: The Musical is the first theatrical production (May 19-21, 26-27) and promises a fun-filled night with singing and vaudeville humor.
Next is The Velveteen Rabbit on June 23, 24, 25, 30 and July 1. An ordinary stuffed rabbit becomes a favorite to the boy sick with scarlet fever. As their friendship develops, the Velveteen Rabbit learns what it means to be truly loved and what it means to be real.
Way Out West in a Dress or Life's a Hurdle When You're Wearing a Girdle offers the family a night of hilarious characters, uproarious musical numbers, and puns galore. You'll “dye” laughing at this wild western musical melodrama offered July 28-30, Aug. 4 and 5.
Returning from a tour in Ireland are The Goldmine Pickers (Aug. 6) with their unique blend of blue-grass, jazz, folk and Irish music traditions. Reserve early for this four piece popular band.
Rebecca Derbas directs a cabaret-style revue of composer Stephen Sondheim's works on Aug. 27.
A dead beat painter (Alan) meets an educated, wealthy woman (Carol) in a hospital waiting room in our production of Life Support on Sept. 1-3, 8 and 9.
Pounding out our summer offerings is the adult thriller, Stephen King's Misery. This roller coaster ride into the darkness and torment of obsession will be performed Sept. 22-24, 29 and 30.
These magnificent eight performances are offered at the season ticket price of $65, a savings of 19 percent over the eight single ticket prices of $80. Call your reservations in on your preferred performance date for each performance. Call (269) 695-6464, or visit: www.tinshoptheatre.org
