Brandywine’s Class of 2006 top 10 announced

NILES - Brandywine Senior High School is proud to announce the following individuals as the top 10 academic students for the Class of 2006.
Valedictorian is Matthew Wieger, the son of George and Kathy Wieger.
Activities/Awards: President of National Honor Society, President of Spanish Honor Society, DAR Good Citizen, Band Section Leader, Presidential Classroom participant and Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Winner.
Sports achievements: All-State Honorable Mention - Soccer, 1st Team All-Conference - Soccer and Baseball, All District and All Regional Soccer and Baseball.
Community Involvement: St. Mary's Parish, Niles Children's Fun House, Fireman's Youth Park, Midget Basketball League.
Future Plans: Michigan State University - Supply-Chain Management, Business.
Salutatorian is Katie Leigh Elder, the daughter of Lisa and David Elder.
Activities/Awards: National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, National Economics’ Summer Camp.
Community Involvement: Employed at Martin's, Adopt a Highway program, clean our road in memory of my grandfather.
Future Plans: Ferris State University - Pharmacy.

Matthew Skornog is the son of Paula Carpenter and Bogdan Skornog.
Activities/Awards: National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Presidential Education Award, Academic Challenge Team Captain.
Community Involvement: Niles Children's Fun House for 13 years.
Future Plans: Southwestern Michigan College - 2 years, Michigan State University/University of Michigan - Science.
Nicole Lynn Martyniuk is the daughter of Mike and Debbie Martyniuk.
Activities/Awards: Math/Science Center (4 years), National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Honorable Mention All-Conference Academic Team, Citizenship Award, Outstanding Scientific Internship Award.
Sports Achievements: V Volleyball Honorable Mention All-Conference Team, V Softball, V Basketball, V Track.
Community Involvement: Volunteer Student Assistant Freshman Volleyball Coach 2005-06, Athletic Boosters, Internship at Walgreen's Pharmacy.
Future Plans: Ferris State University - Pharmacy.
Christopher K. Harrison is the son of Gregory K. and Theresa E. Harrison.
Activities/Awards: Presidents Award for Academic Achievement, Citizenship Award.
Sports Achievements: Soccer (4 years) and Tennis (4 years), Lakeland Conference All-Academic Team.
Community Involvement: Habitat for Humanity, Fernwood volunteer, St. Patrick's Church youth group.
Future Plans: university undecided - architecture
Amanda Britton is the daughter of Frank and Tatyana Britton/Don and Tina Slaby.
Activities/Awards: National Honor Society, National Society of HS Scholars, Who's Who Among American High School Student.
Sports Achievements: Varsity Cheerleading.
Community Involvement: Volunteer work, church youth group.
Future Plans: Tennessee Wesleyan College - Nursing
Heather Wilson is the daughter of Clarence and Rebecca Wilson.
Activities/Awards: National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Rotary Student of the Month.
Sports Achievements: Softball (3 years), Volleyball (3 years)
Community Involvement: Volunteer work at church, wash dishes at the Country Cafe.
Future Plans: Ferris State University - Pharmacy
Mandy Crabtree is the daughter of Melody Bryant and Robbie Crabtree.
Activities/Awards: Perfect attendance, Girls State, Presidential Award for Educational Achievement.
Community Involvement: WNIT Auction, 5th Grade Camp Counselor, Zoo-Boo
Future Plans: Baker College - Graphic Communications
John Gustafson is the son of Loren and Georgia Gustafson
Activities/Awards: Board of Education Academic Student Recognition Award.
Sports Achievements: Varsity Football (2 years).
Community Involvement: Rake and mow lawns.
Future Plans: tech college - Auto Mechanics
Loydene Kittleson, the daughter of Elmer and Ruth Kittleson.
Activities/Awards: President's Academic Award, Spanish Honors Society, Lakeland Fine Arts Festival (3 years).
Community Involvement: Volunteer Principal's Office aide during the summer.
Future Plans: SMC, then a flight school.
