STEVENSVILLE - Saturday was the opening of the area's "Off Season" USAW Freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestling Tournament schedule held at Lakeshore High School.
Ages ranged from "Pee-Wee" (born 2001 or later) all the way through to the "Open Class" (out of High School). Boys and girls were both eligible to compete.
Wrestling Freestyle from Niles High School were Todd Scansen, Jake Glueckert and Marcus Bricker. Scansen and Bricker took first place, while Glueckert took second.
Nick Wheatley and AJ Long from Buchanan High School also took first place.
Most of the area's Off Season competitor's will be traveling to Mason Michigan next Saturday for a "Border Wars" tournament. Wrestler's placing in the Top four in their age and weight brackets will be eligible for the National Tournament held in the fall.
