NILES - The streets of Niles were filled with people this past weekend, as families strolled up and down admiring the ice sculptures which were part of the second annual Hunter Ice Festival.
Even late into the evening on Saturday, visitors were seen admiring the various designs.
Seven of the best carvers in the Mid-West competed for prizes totaling more than $3,200 in the N.I.C.A Sanctioned Master Carving Competition. The top prize was $1,500.
Ice cream was enjoyed again this year along with wine, cheese and chocolate, a new offering this year.
The library also participated, offering the history of the Hunter Ice and Ice Cream Company.
Results from the competition will be published as soon as they are received.
