Tis the season of giving.
Those who have dug down in their pockets and helped those less fortunate this holiday season may have a tax benefit this coming new year, but even better have the good feeling which comes from doing what's right.
This year has been one of continued tragedy for huge groups of people both across the sea and at home here in the United States. Even those in our own communities have suffered layoffs and rising energy costs.
In the spirit of the season, the people of Niles and the surrounding communities have been generous in supporting organizations such as United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Adopt-A-Family programs, the Salvation Army and many other organizations which throughout the year continue to help others.
We applaud all of those people who volunteer their time to keep these needed organizations running efficiently and smoothly and also all those who have been so generous in their monetary support.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and hope that the spirit of giving continues into 2006.
