Niles, Buchanan to compete at Dowagiac tournament

NILES - The Dowagiac Chieftain Volleyball Invitational will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 28 beginning at 9 a.m.
Participating along with the Chieftains will be Bridgman, Buchanan, Coloma, Niles, Plainwell, South Haven and St. Joseph. Admission is $4.
Plainwell is the defending tournament champion having defeated Coloma in the title match last year, 26-24, 17-25 and 15-11.
Niles was eliminated in the semifinals by the Comets, 25-21 and 25-14, while Dowagiac was ousted in the semifinals by Plainwell, 25-22 and 25-21.
Pool A will consist of Bridgman, Buchanan, Dowagiac and Plainwell. Pool B will be made up of Coloma, Niles, South Haven and St. Joseph.
Dowagiac and Plainwell will open up pool play on Court 1, while St. Joseph will face South Haven on Court 2.
At 10 a.m. it will be Buchanan and Bridgman on Court 1, while Coloma and Niles will meet on Court 2.
The 10:45 a.m. matches will pit Dowagiac and Buchanan on Court 1 and South Haven and Niles on Court 2.
Dowagiac will wrap up pool play at 11:30 a.m. with a match against Bridgman, which defeated Dowagiac on Saturday for the Berrien Springs Invitational championship, at 12:15 p.m. on Court 1.
On Court 2 at 12:15 it will be South Haven and Coloma.
At 1 p.m. on Court 1 it will be Plainwell against Buchanan, while on Court 2 it will be Niles against St. Joseph.
The semfinals are slated for 2:30 p.m. with the champion of Pool A taking on the runner-up from Pool B on Court 1. On Court 2, the champion from Pool B will meet the runner-up from Pool A.
The finals are scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
All pool play matches will be two games of the first team to 25 points in rally scoring.
The semifinals and finals will be a best-of-three format with rally scoring.
