Museum hosts open house

NILES - The Fort St. Joseph Museum will host its free Holiday Open House from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10.
In keeping with the theme of the open house, Symbols of Christmas, the Burl Ives version of the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer video will be shown continuously .
Rudolph, Niles' own Christmas symbol, will be present. Learn why peacocks, spiders, turtles and ladybugs are a part of Christmas as well as more traditional things such as bells and candy canes.
Children will be able to make a frog, fish and peacock and each will also receive a special bag of treats to take home.
The Chapin Mansion/Niles City Hall is also decorated for the holidays and will be open for tours during the hours of the open house. Members of the Fort St. Joseph Historical Association will be stationed throughout the mansion to tell visitors about each of the rooms.
