Cal Ripken, FOP playoff action heating up this week

NILES - The competition continued to heat up Monday evening as the Rookie and Minor Leagues played their first games of the World Series.
The Minor and Major Leagues will play game two tonight with a winner possibly being crowned. Games will conclude tomorrow if necessary.
White Sox vs. Angels
The White Sox took an 8-1 victory over the Angels Sunday afternoon to advance to the World Series playoffs.
Top hitters for the White Sox were Dalton Raymond with a triple and two singles and Dennis Jordan and Tommy Newton both had three singles each.
The Angels were led by Rachelle Dodge with two singles and Zack Grishaber with a double.
White Sox vs. Blue Jays
The Blue Jays suffered an 8-4 loss to the White Sox in the Rookie World Series playoffs Monday evening at Fireman's Youth Park.
The White Sox were led offensively by Dalton Raymond who had a double and a single, Tommy Newton had two singles and Laurita had a triple and a single.
The Jays were led by Kyle Duncan with a triple and a single and Bryce Vinyard and Kodey Ernsperger both had one double and one single each.
Niles FOP Minor League Tournament
The Pirates defeated the Phillies Monday night 20-8 in Niles FOP playoff action.
Charles Fleenor and Michael Geiger combined for the win on the mound for the Pirates.
The Pirates' hitting attack was lead by Alex Wright with three hits and Sean Craig and Charles Fleenor added two each.
The semi final game will match the Pirates and the Astros Wednesday night at 5:30 pm. at Niles FOP Park.
The Pirates closed out the regular season last week defeating the Braves 6-1 and the Marlins 13-5.
After starting the season 0-10 the Pirates have won six of the last seven games.
