NILES - A local business in Buchanan was able to help make a dream come true this week for a Midwest author and illustrator.
Roland Earnst of Grapevine Productions in Buchanan allowed children's author Linda Patti to come into the studio and record her children's book to be put on DVD and video.
When Patti, who is from Indianapolis, was first diagnosed with cancer she thought a great and cheap gift for her granddaughter's birthday would be to write a book.
Patti wrote the book titled A Thing so Rare, but put it away after being unable to find the right person to illustrate her work.
After some time Patti was finally able to find the right person for the job, and the interesting part is she had been hiding right under Patti's nose.
The main purpose of recording the book is because both Kinze and Patti want to help children who have been diagnosed with cancer.
Patti added that with the struggle has gone through with being diagnosed with cancer, she can't even imagine what it's like for a child and wants to help anyway she can to find a cure so children won't have to go through the situation.
Patti is currently working on her second book which has a message of hope and you should really value what you have, because you never know when it might be taken away from you.
Patti's book A Thing so Rare is currently available at www.authorhouse.com and will soon be available at Barnes and Noble and amazon.com.
