Niles’ Nicole Horvath breaks pole vault mark

ST. JOSEPH - The Niles girls' track team finished 16th at the Big 16 Conference Track &Field Championships held at Dickinson Stadium at St. Joseph High School.
Kalamazoo Central won the meet with 118 points.
Battle Creek Lakeview was second with 80.5 points, while Battle Creek Harper Creek was third with 56 points.
Niles finished with seven points.
Placing for the Lady Vikings were Nicole Horvath, who took fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.37.
Horvath also set the school record in the pole vault when she cleared 8-feet. The old record of 7-9 was held by Erin Miller.
Niles' other points came in the shot put where Ashley Austin took sixth with a toss of 34-feet.
