Edwardsburg blanked by Granger Christian

GRANGER, Ind. - The Edwardsburg varsity soccer team traveled to Granger Christian Monday afternoon for a non-conference match up and came away with a 5-1 loss to end the regular season.
The Eddies started the match by setting their offense at the Lady Knight's end of the field. It wasn't until the ninth minute when the Knight's Whitney Wood scored the opening goal.
The Eddies continued to pound the ball at the Knights' end, but strong goaltending by the Knights' Andrea Book turned the Eddies back around.
The Lady Knights made it a 2-0 match when Amanda Mooth scored on an unassisted goal at the 24 minute mark of the first half. Nine minutes later the Knight's Wood scored again to make it a 3-0 lead.
The half ended with the Knights holding a three-goal advantage.
The Lady Eddies managed just one shot on goal, while Granger Christian tallied 15 shots on goal.
The Lady Knights' Mooth opened the second half by scoring at the 34 minute mark to give Granger Christian a 4-0 lead.
A minute later, the Eddies ended their scoring drought when Tayler Swaim scored to put the Eddies on the board 4-1.
Mooth, once again scored at the 77 minute mark to give her team a 5-1 lead and a hat trick for the game.
Granger Christian controlled the ball and the clock and only allowed the Lady Eddies nine second half shots on goal.
The Knights finish the season at 9-0-1.
The Eddies will now host Paw Paw Tuesday May 31 in the district tournament. The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
