Buchanan softball grabs another shut out win

NILES - Buchanan's softball team was able to grab two more shut outs wins Wednesday afternoon as the Bucks hosted New Buffalo for a pair of non-conference games.
Buchanan shut out Bridgman last week and picked up an 8-0, 15-0 win over the Bison to bring its overall record to 22-11.
Ashley Pointer, this weeks Athlete of the Week, was the winning pitcher in both games getting a combined 14 strike outs to get her fourth shut out win of the season.
The Bucks were led offensively in the first game by Tracey Brelowski who had a triple and a single and Pointer added two singles.
In the night cap, which only lasted three innings, Leslie Niemier and Hayley Burks both had two singles each.
The Bucks will travel to the Bronson Tournament on Saturday with the first game beginning at 10 a.m.
Buchanan will travel to Niles on Tuesday for a doubleheader.
Buchanan sweeps Michigan Lutheran
On Monday, Buchanan upset host Michigan Lutheran in two games winning the first game 8-3 and the second 11-2.
Ashley Pointer picked up the wins in both games on the mound and added two singles on offense in the second game.
Top hitters on the day for the Bucks were Hayley Burks with a triple, a double and four singles and Taylor Krumrie with a triple.
