BUCHANAN - The Buchanan High School tennis team has been provided a wonderful experience for the past eight years by two very special individuals, Jim and Jeanette Jesse.
Every spring, Buchanan hosts the conference and the regional tennis tournaments.
Jim and Jeanette came up with a great idea to cook hamburgers and hot dogs, as well as provide beverages for all the participants and coaches within both tournaments.
By doing this, the Jesse's felt that it would turn the tournament into a 'picnic in the park' atmosphere and would also be more convenient for athletes who would not have to leave the site to grab a bite to eat.
The Jesse's dig into their own pockets for this event and end up feeding around 100 people for the conference tournament every year and approximately 150 people for the regional.
Even though many individuals and teams have offered to share the cost, the Jesse's continue to request that they fund this event on their own. Jim and Jeanette's two sons, Jay and Sean, formerly attended Buchanan High school and played tennis.
Bender continued, "Jim and Jeanette are the major reason our tennis program has been so strong for the past 10 years."
