Rangers hold off late Indians rally for 8-6 victory

A late rally by the Indians was not enough as the Rangers held on for an 8-6 victory in Babe Ruth Preps action.
The Indians scored three times in the top of the seventh to rally from a 8-3 deficit.
The Rangers scored three runs in the first, one in the second, two in the third and fifth innings to account for their eight runs.
The Indians scored twice in the second and once in the fourth.
Dustin Bell picked up the mound victory for the Rangers. Cameron Smallman suffered the loss.
Top hitters for the Rangers were Aaron Davis and Derek Nichols with three hits each.
The Rangers also got two hits from Mikel Lindzy and two singles, a double and three RBIs from Kyle King.
Bell, Nathan Clingenpeel and Jeremy Zimmerman all had a hit.
The Indians had just three hits in the contest, all singles by Steve Salkey, Zac Edquist and Ryan Hermann.
Niles FOP Astros lose
close game to Cassopolis
The Niles FOP Minor League Astros lost a close game to Cassopolis Monday night 8 – 9 in inter-district play. The Astros battled back from a four point deficit and had the tying run at third but a ground out to the pitcher ended the game. The Astros were led offensively by Ethan Zimmerman with a double and a single, Connor Glick and Vance Walczak each with a double and Everett Shembarger with a single. Shembarger was the starting pitcher with relief from James Krause and Ethan Zimmerman. Zimmerman struck out six of last eight batters to finish the game for the Astros.
Blue Jays edge White Sox
The Blue Jays edged the White Sox 6-4 in Brandywine Cal Ripken action.
Kyle Duncan was 2-for-2 as was Bryce Vineyard. James Harrell had a single for the Blue Jays.
The White Sox got a pair of doubles from Dalton Raymond. Dennis Jordan and Andrew Duckett each had a double and a single.
Information provided for the Blue Jays game against the A's included several mistakes.
The final score was 3-1 in favor of the Blue Jays, not 3-0. Duncan had a double and a single, while Blake Lerner, Kodey Ernsperger, Tyler Mott and Adam Irons each had two hits.
Cardinals topple Pirates
The Cardinals defeated the Pirates 12-2 in Cal Ripken play.
Chris Mangus took the victory, while Adam Riffle suffered the loss.
Mangus was also 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles. David Tharp was 2-for-2, both doubles, while Jacob Wright also doubled for the Cardinals.
The Pirates were no-hit in the contest.
Tiges, Cubs entertain fans
The Niles F.O.P. Minor League Tigers and Cubs entertained their fans in a game on Monday.
Cody Glick, Noah Franz, Nathan Dennis, Alex Jasper and Brenden Hall had hits for the Tigers, while Dylan Allen, Zach Murray, Gatlin DeVonte and Andre Davis had hits for the Cubs.
