Cassopolis wins Bangor Invitational title

The Cassopolis Ranger baseball team came home Saturday with the Championship trophy from the Bangor invitational tournament, beating Fennville in game one 14-2, while defeating host Bangor in the championship game 11-1.
Cassopolis pitcher Jason Rietveld threw a complete game two-hitter against Fennville in the first game.
The Rangers provided plenty of offensive support with 14 runs on 10 hits.
Cassopolis (6-7) was led by Andre Broussard who tripled and Ashton Danzy who doubled. Rietveld helped his own cause with three hits.
The championship game pitted Cassopolis against the host Vikings.
The Rangers got a second pitching gem from Broussard, who allowed one run on three hits over five innings.
The game was halted in the fifth due to the 10-run rule.
Rietveld again sparked the offense with 3 consecutive doubles, while Broussard also had a two bagger.
On the day four Rangers had outstanding offense production.
Rietveld went 6-for-6 with 3 doubles, while Danzy, Broussard and Justin Lee all went 3-for-7 with a double. Broussard also had a triple.
The victory was the first in an invitational for the Rangers under the direction of coach Dan Purlee.
The Rangers returned to action on Wednesday against Coloma. Cass plays Grace Christian today.
