The Niles varsity softball team was swept by host Mishawaka (Ind.) Friday evening.
The Lady Vikings were shut out in the first game, 10-0, but came back to almost take the second game from Mishawaka. Niles (6-13) fell in the nightcap, 2-1.
Julie Kater (4-8) took the loss in the first game.
Kayla Gross, Kylee Mudd and Karly Kennedy all had hits for the Lady Vikings. Gross doubled.
In the nightcap, Mudd (2-5) took the loss.
Kate Whittaker was 2-for-2, while Kater added a single.
Niles returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Dowagiac for a Big 16 Conference West Division doubleheader scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
