Jerry French retains seat

NILES - Incumbent Jerry French received 1,005 votes to retain his seat on the Niles Community Schools Board of Education. Candidate Dr. Toby Mitchell received 541 votes and Michael E. Gordon received 250 votes.
The non-homestead renewal in Niles passed, 1034 to 777.

Brandywine
Voters in the Brandywine Public Schools district elected Philip Bozung with 234 votes and Dennis Hinsey with 231 votes to the Brandywine Public Schools Board of Education.
SMC Millage
SMC mobilized more than 350 volunteers to push only its second millage increase in its more than 40-year history, but the request was defeated, 3,420 no to 2,401 yes. Only Cassopolis carried the 1.5-mil proposal.
Voters in the Howard and Pokagon township precincts had 411 voters voting no and 235 voting yes. Voters in Milton Township had 48 voters voting yes and 76 no.
