Bucks sweep Eddies in LAC

NILES - Buchanan's varsity softball team picked up a Lakeland Conference doubleheader win Tuesday afternoon against Edwardsburg.
The Bucks took a 5-1 first game win over the Eddies.
Ashley Pointer was the winning pitcher for Buchanan against Jenna Bowman.
Pointer had six strike outs and only allowed on run and five hits.
Bowman had one strike out allowing eight hits.
Leslie Niemier, Jill Woodrick and Tracy Brelowski all had two hits for the Bucks.
After a 10 inning second game, the Bucks took the 6-2 win.
The game was tied at two until Buchanan was able to get four runs in the top of the 10th and held the Eddies scoreless.
Pointer was again the winning pitcher. She pitched all 10 innings and had four strike outs and allowed 12 hits.
Kelli Kretchman was the losing pitcher giving up only four hits and had only one strike out.
Emily Ross, Niemier and Hayley Burks all had doubles for the Bucks.
Kretchman had two hits, Nikki Thompson had a double and a single, Kristen Toney had a single and a double and Heatehr Merrill had two hits for Edwardsburg.
The Bucks will return to the field next Tuesday when they host Berrien Springs for a Lakeland Conference doubleheader.
Game time is set to begin at 4 p.m.
Edwardsburg will host Jimtown Thursday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader.
Game time is set for 5 p.m.
