Buchanan chase leaves three injured

NILES - Michigan State Police were called to investigate a domestic violence complaint at a residence on Bakertown Road in Buchanan in the evening hours of April 30.
According to the police report, the suspect left the scene and was later spotted by officers from the Buchanan Police Department.
The report indicated that the alleged suspect refused to stop for the Buchanan Police and during the pursuit that followed, a Buchanan Police Department vehicle was rammed. At some point during the attempts to stop and arrest the suspect, a Buchanan officer fired a service weapon at the suspect, the police report said.
In fleeing, the suspect's vehicle allegedly struck a residence and then another vehicle with two occupants. According to the report, two occupants in that vehicle were injured. No report was available at press time to their identities or nature of their injuries. The report indicated that they were transported to Lakeland Hospital in Niles for treatment.
According to First Lieutenant Michael Brown, Commander of the Niles Post, "Detective Sargent Fabian Suarez, Michigan State Police Niles Post, will be the lead investigator for this incident." He has had multiple witness statements in downtown Buchanan regarding the suspects attempt to flee the scene.
The report indicates that traffic crash investigators from the Niles Post are investigating multiple traffic crashes related to the incident.
The suspect is a 26-year-old Buchanan man, who is currently receiving extensive treatment at Lakeland Hospital for injuries relating to the incident. He has not been arrested at this time, according to Lt. Brown.
