Chieftains rack up win over ‘Cats

DOWAGIAC - The visiting Brandywine tennis team was blanked by Dowagiac Thursday afternoon, 8-0.
The victory was the first of the season for the Chieftains, while the Bobcats haven't won a match since they faced Cassopolis a few weeks ago.
Adam Carlson defeated Mike Nagy at No. 1 singles, 6-2 and 6-4, while at No. 2 singles, David Maxey defeated Jake Sinkoff, 7-5 and 6-2.
Sonny Swartz defeated Cory Barber at No. 3 singles, 6-4 and 6-0, while at No. 4 singles, Mike Hoff defeated Chris Harrison, 6-0 and 6-1.
At No. 1 doubles, Josue Miranda and Mike DeRose defeated Billy McDonald and Jeremy Hechtl, 6-3 and 6-2.
At No. 2 doubles, Jon Woosley and Aaron Wilson defeated Pat VanLaere and Adam Simons, 6-2 and 6-2.
At No. 3 doubles, Kyle Kowalski and Henry Krohne defeated Kyle Bankston and Brian Echevarria, 7-6, 4-6 and 7-6.
At No. 4 doubles, Andrew Cuthbert and Tyler Cook defeated Dan Whitney and Tyler Espick, 6-0 and 6-0.
The Bobcats will travel to Coloma on Monday in hopes of picking up a Lakeland Conference win.
Match time is set to begin at 4 p.m.
The Chiefs will host Coldwater in a SMAC crossover game on Tuesday.
