Cassopolis gets first Lakeland win

The Cassopolis varsity softball team snapped an eight-game losing streak Tuesday night, but more importantly, got its first Lakeland Conference win since 2002.
The Rangers lost to host River Valley 13-1 in the first game, but rallied to win the second game, 10-8.
Jessica Frucci had a double for the Lady Rangers in the first game. Randi Hoffman took the loss.
In the nightcap, Symone Pompey picked up the victory as she allowed eight runs on four hits with 10 strike outs and nine walks.
Frucci had a double and three singles, while Becky File had two doubles and two singles. Nikitas Nelson had three hits, while Hoffman, Baily Wyant and Jealyn Foston all had two hits.
Cassopolis is now 2-8 overall and 1-5 in the league.
Cassopolis vs. White Pigeon
Cassopolis was defeated by host White Pigeon, 11-8.
The non-conference contest was going well for the Lady Rangers (1-7) until the bottom of the fourth when the Lady Chiefs scored eight runs.
Cassopolis led 7-3 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning.
Erin Conrad worked three innings to pick up the victory for White Pigeon. She allowed eight runs on 10 hits with 11 strike outs and three walks.
Symone Pompey suffered the loss for Cassopolis as she worked three innings, allowing six runs on three hits with five strike outs and eight walks.
Randi Hoffman also worked three innings, allowing five runs on two hits with two strike outs and five walks.
Jessica Frucci and Molly Vite both tripled for the Lady Rangers, who finished with 10 hits.
Cassopolis also got two hits each from Ashley Solloway, Hoffman and Alisha Solloway.
