Cats split with Bucks

BUCHANAN - Brandywine pitcher Kory Bridges gave Buchanan some problems in the first of two games Tuesday afternoon at Buchanan.
Bridges, who recently signed to pitch for Kalamazoo Valley Community College next year, pitched a no-hitter against the Bucks, allowing Brandywine to pick up the 2-0 first game win.
Bridges pitched all seven innings of the first game and had 14 stike outs. He was the winning pitcher against the Bucks' Jeremy Lucas.
The Bobcats got their first run in the top of the second and scored the last run in the top of the seventh.
The Bucks, now 6-8 overall, had quite a few opportunites to catch up, but the Bobcats were able to get three outs before they could pull any runs in.
Top hitter for Brandywine was Alex Newman with a double.
The Bobcats weren't so lucky in the second game and suffered a 4-2 loss.
Buchanan took an early 1-0 lead, but Brandywine scored two runs in the top of the second when Josh Atwood hit a two run home run to put the Bobcats up by one.
Buchanan scored another run in the bottom of the third to tie it up at two and score two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead and eventually give them the win.
Kyle Tracey was the winning pitcher for Buchanan against Jake Harris.
Top hitters for Brandywine were Atwood with a two run home run and Justin Ely going 2-3 with a single. For Buchanan Josh Wahlstrom went 3-4 with three singles and Lucas had a double.
The Bobcats will travel to Wayland on Saturday for an eight team tournament. Game times are yet to be determined.
The Bucks will host St. Joe at home on Friday at 4 p.m.
