Niles JV sweeps Eddies

NILES - Niles' JV baseball team picked up a doubleheader win Wednesday afternoon at Thomas Stadium against visiting Edwardsburg.
The Vikes won the first game 14-7 and picked up the 5-1 win in the second game.
After being down 5-0 in the top of the second inning in the first game, the the Vikes made a big comeback and were able to take the 14-7 win.
Jason Duis started things off in the bottom of the second for Niles when he pounded a double to the outfield.
Kevin Ostrowski was walked to advance him to first and put two runners on base.
After two outs on the Eddies' side, Dustin Anderson ripped a double to left field to send in Duis and Ostrowski and put the Vikings on the board 5-2.
Tim Hardy added an RBI single to send Anderson home and add another run to Niles' score to bring it to 5-3.
Keith Bouwkamp contacted an RBI single to center to send in James Hall, who was the curtousy runner for Hardy.
With bases loaded and one out, Ostrowski stroked an RBI single for Niles to send in Drew Donohue and tie the game at five.
The Vikings continued to hang on to the lead for the rest of the first game and walked away with the 14-7 win.
Hardy was the winning pitcher for Niles.
Top hitter for the Vikings was Anderson with three doubles.
Niles was again able to pick up the 5-1 win in the second game.
Ostrowski was the winning pitcher for the Vikes and was the top hitter with a home run and a double.
The Vikings will return to the field on Tuesday when they host Lakeshore at Thomas Stadium. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
