NILES - Rana's New Generation has been declared the winner.
Rana's New Generation hair salon located at 525 N. 17th St. in Niles, would like to thank the community for their support, in helping them to win a $25,000 makeover for their salon sponsored by Takara/Belmont a company which supplies beauty supply equipment.
The salon was one of five finalists from around the country, who were chosen from essays and videos they sent in, to enter the contest.
Donohue and her sister Janice Hensel, who co-owns the salon with Donohue will be flying to New York City this weekend to the Stylist Choice Awards, where they will receive their award.
The award includes $25,000 worth of equipment and design services for the salon, which they will be able to use to update their 35-year old equipment.
The sisters are the third generation in their family to own the salon, which was started 48 years ago by their grandmother Rana Steiner in a house on Ferry Street in 1957. She was active in the business until 1998. Her son Pat White, owned and operated the business with his wife Gail for over 30 years, until the sisters purchased it.
With the makeover of their salon they hope to be able to achieve their goal of providing customer service that exceeds their client's expectations because their equipment and facility would exceed expectations the moment the customers walk in the door.
