Buchanan wins second tournament title in a row

ST. JOSEPH - For the second weekend in a row the Buchanan tennis team claimed a tournament title victory.
The Bucks opened up their season last weeakend winning their own indoor tournament. On Friday night they traveled to St. Joseph for the Parchment Indoor Tennis Tournament held at the South Shore Health Club and won with a team score of 14 points.
Parchment, who returned 11 of their top 12 players and was predicted to be a top 10 team, came in second with eight points. Battle Creek Pennfield ended with seven points and Berrien Springs with three points.
"Three times versus Parchment in the finals we defeated them in the third set tie breaker. That was th difference in the tourney," Bender added.
Flight champions in the tournament were Doug Summers, who went 2-0 at No. 1 singles, Harper Suleir, who went 2-0 at No. 3 singles, Mario Bonardi, who went 2-0 at No. 4 singles and Ryan Skene went 1-1 at No. 2 singles.
Korey Camp and Mike Otwell went 2-0 and at No. 1 doubles, Andrew Gordon and David Wright, who went 2-0 at No. 2 doubles, Andrew Frederick and Andrew Scoggin, who went 2-0 at No. 4 doubles and Dustin Sieff and Dillon Bailey, who went 1-1 in No. 3 doubles.
The Bucks return to action on April 13 against Coloma at home for their first conference match. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
