Local wrestlers get ready for regionals

NILES - A total of 29 wrestlers from Brandywine, Buchanan, Cassopolis, Dowagiac, Edwardsburg and Niles will compete in this Saturday's regional round of the Michigan High School Athletic Association individual wrestling tournament.
Dowagiac leads the way with seven grapplers advancing to the Division 3 regional tournament at Hamilton High School, while Buchanan and Cassopolis each advanced six on to regionals in Division 3 and Division 4 respectively.
The Division 4 regional will be held at Bronson High School.
Niles moved four wrestlers on to the regional at Plainwell High School in Division 2, while Brandywine advanced three wrestlers in Division 4.
Division 2
Advancing for the Vikings are Jake Glueckert at 103-pounds, Mason Stephenson at 125-pounds, Robert Cinninger at 145-pounds and Josh Henry at 189-pounds.
Division 3
Advancing for the Bucks will be district champions Todd Taylor (103), Travis Reith (125) and Ryan Carrigan (275).
Also advancing are Nick Wheetley at 119-pounds, Jim Connors at 189-pounds and David Medlin at 140-pounds.
Competing on Saturday for Dowagiac will be Jereomy Northrop at 145-pounds, Kyle Bennett at 171-pounds, Shawn Rawson at 189-pounds, Richie Hutchinson at 119-pounds, Jason Krukowski at 130-pounds and Nathan Cottrell at 103-pounds.
Advancing for Edwardsburg are Andy Breslin at 125-pounds, Matt Peters and Corey Parsons at 160-pounds.
Division 4
Advancing for Cassopolis are district champions Justin Tucker, John McCoy and Kenny Brown.
Also advancing for the Rangers are Zach Deubner at 130-pounds, Randy Hemminger at 145-pounds and Josh Westphal at 171-pounds. Competing on Saturday for the Bobcats will be Lance Taliaferro at 130-pounds, Joel Perry at 152-pounds and Adam Simons at 189-pounds.
