Edwardsburg spikers win pair

The Edwardsburg varsity volleyball team picked up a couple of victories this past week.
The Lady Eddies defeated Cassopolis in a Lakeland Conference match on Feb. 9, and then defeated New Buffalo in a non-league match on Monday night.
Edwardsburg handed the Lady Rangers a 25-17, 25-17 and 25-17 setback.
Sam Fritschi led the team with nine kills, while Shelley Roberts added seven kills.
Sarah Lange and Nikki Thompson finished the night with 15 and 12 assists respectively.
Roberts also had 18 digs, while Fritschi had four blocks.
Susanna Martino finished with two blocks. Thompson led the team in aces with three. Chrissy Breisch added two aces.
Kelli Kretchmen completed the match with 10 digs.
No Cassopolis results were available at press time.
On Monday night the Lady Eddies defeated New Buffalo, 25-17, 25-16 and 25-6.
Roberts and Fritsche had seven and six attacks respectively.
Lange had 13 assists and eight aces, while Roberts had seven aces.
Roberts led the team in digs with 21. Megan Moyer finished with seven digs.
On Saturday the Lady Eddies and Lady Rangers will compete in the Lakeland Conference Tournament at Berrien Springs High School.
Pool play is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
Cassopolis will face undefeated Coloma in its opening match at 8 a.m.
Edwardsburg will take on Buchanan at 8:45 a.m.
The championship round of the tournament is slated to begin at 12:15 p.m.
