Lady Vikes gear up for Big 16 tourney

NILES - The Big 16 Conference volleyball tournament will get under way on Saturday in St. Joseph beginning at 9 a.m.
Four teams come into the league tournament with perfect records in Big 16 Conference division play.
Sturgis and St. Joseph are both 4-0, while Portage Central is 5-0.
The tournament will consist of a 16-team bracket with the teams being seeded one through 16.
The tournament will be played out to all 16 places.
All matches will be two out of three with rally scoring to 25 points with no cap. The third game will be played to 15 points.
Portage Central is the No. 1 seed and will take on Benton Harbor at 9 a.m.
Also playing at 9 a.m. will be Dowagiac and Battle Creek Central, Lakeshore and Niles and Battle Creek Harper Creek and Portage Northern.
Playing at approximately 10 a.m. in the opening round will be Sturgis and Loy Norrix, Mattawan and Coldwater, Battle Creek Lakeview and Marshall, and Kalamazoo Central and St. Joseph.
Second round games are scheduled for 11 a.m. and noon. The semifinals are scheduled from 2 p.m. with the title match set for 4 p.m.
