CASSOPOLIS - Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. is reporting his deputies investigated a personal-injury accident at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, on Barron Lake Road near White Street in Howard Township.
Cody Bixby, 23, of Niles was traveling south on Barron Lake road when he lost control of the vehicle in an "S" curve.
The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree. It is believed that Bixby was then ejected from the vehicle.
Deputies believe he was not wearing his safety belt, and that alcohol was a factor in this crash.
Howard Township first responders and Howard Township fire and rescue, along with SMCAS (Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Service, Niles) assisted.
SMCAS transported Bixby to Lakeland Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was reported in stable condition.
This incident remains under investigation.
