Meth lab dismantled in Newberg Township

CASSOPOLIS - The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team announces the seizure and dismantling of a methamphetamine lab found at a Newberg Township residence.
On Wednesday, Feb. 9, at approximately 8 p.m., investigators were tipped off by citizens that there was a possible meth lab at a residence on Wood Lake Street near Jones.
Upon responding to the residence a fully working methamphetamine lab was discovered.
Investigators from the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team and the Michigan State Police South West Enforcement Team (SWET) dismantled the lab in the residence as well as remnants of a lab in an outbuilding next to the residence.
Also seized at this time was a small quantity of methamphetamine, cash and multiple firearms.
Arrested at the time of the seizure was a female resident. This person was charged with possession and manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of meth lab components, manufacture of meth within 500 feet of an occupied dwelling, manufacture of a hazardous waste and possession of firearms during the commission of a felony.
This subject was transported to the Cass County Jail in Cassopolis where she is awaiting arraignment in Fourth District Court.
The name of this subject will be released after her arraignment.
