CASSOPOLIS - Being in a little town isn't new for Cassopolis' new postmaster. Sue Butt of Berrien Springs was previously the Postmaster of Baroda in Berrien County.
Originally from Georgia, Butt came to this area 30 years ago, after her husband died, to be near her sister Zelma Fellner of Eau Clare.
Of her new employees, she said they are "dedicated and work hard." Karen Dodd, who has been acting as Postmaster for the past six months, will be leaving Cassopolis to become an officer in charge at another town, due to her excellent work. "Karen has done a terrific job," Butt said.
Like most jobs, it would take experiencing the many different tasks a postmaster must accomplish, to appreciate all they do.
She praises the carriers who cover the eight routes in Cassopolis each day. "They do it week," Butt said.
Butt's daughter lives with her husband and four children in Tennessee. Butt's son, Jim McGuire, lives in Buchanan.
