Nineteen contestants looking to be Miss Buchanan 2005 Saturday

BUCHANAN - The 2005 Miss Buchanan Pageant will present "School's out for the Summer," to be held on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Buchanan High School Auxilary Gym. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased from any of the 19 contestants or for $6 at the door the evening of the pageant.
A Coronation Ball will follow the pageant at the American Legion.
Jennifer Webb
Jennifer Webb, 17, is the daughter of Ron and Phyllis Webb.
After graduation she plans on attending Ivy Tech State College, for Culinary Arts.
She is currently involved in Honors Choir and Ecology Club.
Ruth Meredith
Ruth Ann Meredith, 17, is the daughter of Andrew Meredith and Trudy Pascoe.
After graduation she plans on attending Southwestern Michigan College and get a degree in teaching.
She is currently involved in S.A.D.D. and Choir.
Heather Marie King
Heather Marie King, 18, is the daughter of Scott King and Donna Mason.
After graduation she plans on attending Southwestern Michigan College for a degree in Elementary Education.
Molly Christina Ross
Molly Christina Ross, 17, is the daughter of Jack and Tammy Ross.
After graduation she plans to attend Southwestern for two years, then transfer to Ferris State University to major in public relations.
She hopes to work for the Red Wings and maybe even the Olympics.
She is currently involved in Yearbook, Drama, S.A.D.D., Spanish Club, Varsity Cheerleading ("Bucky the Buck), Varsity Track and Field, Science Olympiad, Hockey Referee, and High School All Star.
Ross has been honored for third year as yearbook editor, captain of women's field team, academic letter, and National Honor Roll.
Alisha Ranft
Alisha Natae Ranft, 17, is the daughter of Shawn Brown and Richard Ranft.
After graduation she plans to finish cosmetology school at Twin City's Beauty College, and then go to Southwestern Michigan College for a Business Degree.
She is currently involved in soccer and tennis.
Jessica Gunn
Jessica Ann Gunn, 17, is the daughter of Rob and Cindy Gunn.
After graduation she plans to attend Western Michigan University. She will major in secondary education, teaching the foreign language Spanish.
She is currently involved in the Buchanan Equestrian Team, National Honors Society, Spanish Club and Spanish Honors Society.
Gunn has been honored for Honor Society Inductions, Honor Roll, Academic letter and Homecoming Court.
Jaclyn Mummaw
Jaclyn Mummaw, 17, is the daughter of Brian and Debra Mummaw.
After graduation she plans to attend Bethel College on an Academic and Tennis Scholarship, and major in Accounting and minor in Broadcasting.
She is currently involved in Varsity Tennis, Varsity Softball, Varsity Volleyball, National Honors Society, S.A.D.D., Yearbook, Float Building, Community Service Project for PD/FD.
Mummaw was been honored for All-State Academics, Brooke Simon Award, For the Love Of the Game - two years in a row, First Team all Conference - three years, Spanish Honors Society, and Volunteering at Curious Kids Museum.
Megan Hubbell
Megan Hubbell, 17, is the daughter of Thomas and Shelley Hubbell.
After graduation she plans to attend Western Michigan University and receive a degree in the field of English or Arts.
She is currently involved in National Honors Society, Spanish Club, Student Council, Varsity Soccer, and Varsity Volleyball.
Hubbell has been honored for Secretary of National Honors Society, All-Academic Team, Representative of Student Council.
Elizabeth Thornton
Elizabeth Thornton, 18, is the daughter of Mathew and Katherine Thornton.
After graduation she plans on attending Alma College or Grand Valley State to study political science and history while possibly playing tennis.
She is involved in Varsity Tennis and Softball, Marching Band, Red Bud Chorale, Student Council, S.A.D.D., Science Olympiad, Drama Club, and Hockey Referee.
Heather Lentz
Heather Renee Lentz, 18, is the daughter of Steve and Sue Lentz.
After graduation she plans on attending Western Michigan University to obtain a degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
She is currently involved in Varsity Volleyball, Varsity Soccer, Spanish Club, Yearbook Staff, and Student Board of Director of the United Federal Credit Union.
Lentz has been honored for National Honors Society, All Star, and All Conference Academic Team.
Brittany Leitz
Brittany Elaine Leitz, 17, is the daughter of James and Theresa Zacher.
After graduation she plans on attending Juilliard, and earn a degree in the performing arts. She also plans to travel around the world teaching American Culture.
She is currently involved in Cheerleading, Colorguard, Band, Ecology and S.A.D.D. Club, National Honors Society, and in Drama Productions, and Red Bud Chorale.
Leitz has been honored for Honor Roll at school for all four years of high school, National Honors Society, and Honors Courses offered at Buchanan.
Linsey Ross
Linsey Marie Ross, 17, is the daughter of Donald and Dianne Ross.
After graduation she plans on attending Grand Valley State University to major in Elementary Education and obtain a teaching degree.
She is currently involved in S.A.D.D., Varsity Basketball, Varsity Softball, National Honors Society, Senior Class Vice President.
Ross has been honored for the MEAP Award, Rotary Student, National Honors Society, and a representative to the Gateway Foundation's Youth Advisory Council.
Kathleen Kechkaylo
Kathleen Marie Kechkaylo, 17, is the daughter of William and Kathleen Kechkaylo.
After graduation she plans to attend college and get a degree in business.
She is currently President of Ecology Club.
Kechkaylo has been honored for Honor Roll and for her volunteer work.
Ashley Warda
Ashley Warda, 18, is the daughter of Stan and Debby Warda.
After graduation she plans on attending Grand Valley State University.
She is currently involved in Varsity Womens Soccer and Yearbook Staff.
Warda has been honored for Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, Lakeland All Conference Academic Team.
Heather Coger
Heather Coger, 17, is the daughter of Richard and Joan Coger.
After graduation she plans on attending a two year college and then to Michigan State to study for Veterinary work.
She is currently involved in High School Marching Band and Holiday Band; playing the trumpet.
Sarah Ritter
Sarah Ritter, 18, is the daughter of Todd and Carol Ritter.
After graduation she plans on taking her state boards in cosmetology, work in a salon and pay her way through a local college to earn her degree in business.
She is currently involved in marching band.
Ritter has been honored for five months honor roll at Twin Cities Beauty College, and Girl Scout Silver Award.
Sarah Wesner
Sarah Louise Wesner, 17, is the daughter of Allen and Annette Wesner.
After graduation she plans to attend Southwestern Michigan to obtain her associate degree in nursing. Then she would like to transfer to Western Michigan to receive her bachelors degree in pediatrics.
She is currently involved in All-Star's, HOSA, Softball, Volunteering at RAM LOVE, and Allied Health Program.
Wesner received the coach's award in softball in 2004.
She was Miss Congeniality of the Berrien County Youth Fair in 2004, and she won Grand Champion and Grand Champion Overall with her pigs in 2004.
Chelsea Ghatoaura
Chelsea Ghatoaura, 18, is the daughter of Tom and Carol Saladin.
After graduation she plans to attend a four year university, and major in broadcasting and journalism.
She is currently involved in Varsity Tennis, Varsity Soccer, Band, Colorguard, National Honors Society, Church Choir, and Buchanan Walking Trail Committee.
Ghatoaura has been honored for Captain of Colorguard, All Conference Tennis and All Region Tennis.
Brittanee Smeltzer
Brittanee Smeltzer, 17, is the daughter of Tammy and Mike Allee and Mike Smeltzer.
After graduation she plans to attend a four year college to get a degree in communications and a degree in business to fulfill her dream to own a photography studio.
She is currently involved in National Honors Society, Science Olympiad, Tennis, Band, and Art Club.
Smeltzer has been honored for National Honors Society, Rotary Club, and Academic Award for two years.
