Officers discover $3,200 hidden in coat lining

ST. JOSEPH - Officers seized $3,200 cash hidden in a coat lining, two vehicles and six cell phones while executing a narcotics search warrant Thursday evening in Berrien County.
At 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, the Berrien County Narcotics Unit, assisted by the Berrien County Sheriff's Office Road Patrol and the Benton Harbor Police Department, served the search warrant at 983 Monroe, Benton Harbor.
The search warrant resulted from a two-week investigation into narcotics trafficking from that address, according to Lt. Keith Hafer.
Officers arrested Howard Harris Jr., 41, of 983 Monroe, Benton Harbor, on charges of possessing crack cocaine with intent to deliver, second offense; and maintaining a drug house, second offense.
He allegedly had a package of 27 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $2,700 in his pocket when arrested.
Officers reported seizing $3,200 cash found hidden in the lining of Harris' coat, a 1996 Mitsubishi Galant, a 1991 Ford Explorer and six cell phones under civil forfeiture.
Officers also sezied packaging material from the bedroom and an electronic scale from one of his vehicles.
