Dowagiac Elks hosting Hoop Shoot

The Dowagiac Elks Lodge No. 889 annual Hoop Shoot will be held at Dowagiac Union High School on Saturday, Dec. 4.
Registration will begin at 9:10 a.m. with the actual contest scheduled to begin at 9:30.
The Hoop Shoot is a free throw shooting contest for boys and girls, ages 8-13.
Each participant will shoot 25 three throws. The age divisions for both boys and girls are: 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13.
The 8-9 year-old division will shoot its free throws from a distance of 11-feet using a regulation girl's basketball.
The other two age divisions will shoot from 15-feet.
Age winners will advance to the district contest at Coloma High School on Saturday, Jan. 11. Registration will begin at noon with the contest starting at 1 p.m. District champions advance to the state finals.
Fun runs begin Jan. 8
The South Bend, Ind. Parks and Recreation Department will hold three Winter Fun Runs at the beginning of 2005 on Jan. 8, Jan. 29 and Feb. 19.
There will be a five-mile run and a two and a half kilometer race on each date.
The fun runs will be held at Rum Village Park on Ewing Ave., South Bend, approximately three-fourths of a mile west of South Main Street.
Registration for each race will be at 9 a.m. the day of the run, with the events starting at 10 a.m. Entry fee is $3 per person for 20 years and older and $1 per person under 20.

MSU hosting softball
clinic over holiday break,

EAST LANSING - Michigan State University softball coach Jacquie Joseph announces that the ninth annual All Positions Skills Clinic will be held Dec. 27-29.
Cost for the clinic, which is open to ages 10-18, is $120.
The clinic will fun from 9 a.m. until noon each day.
