Though it took nearly the entire first half for Buchanan to get going, the Bucks ran all over Cassopolis Friday in a 42-12 victory at home.
After Buchanan scored first to take a 7-0 lead in the opening period, Cass came back with a 76-yard fumble return for a touchdown on the Bucks' next possession. The play came after Bucks' quarterback Gordon Bryant was blindsided and dropped the ball.
On Buck's next possession, they fumbled again at their own 30-yard line. Cass quarterback Justin Lee scored on a 12-yard bootleg to give the Rangers a 12-7 lead.
That was all the scoring Cass would do, as Buchanan reeled off 35 straight points in the two and a half quarters.
In their final game of the season, the Bucks had their best rushing game of the year. Led by Denny Williams' 255 yards, Buchanan gained 556 yards on the ground.
Matt Dykema ran for 118 yards, Bryant 94 yards and Jared Rusher 87.
The Rangers finished the night with 166 yards rushing and another 55 yards passing.
The Rangers were just 3-of-10 in the passing department with an interception.
Buchanan advances to the Division 6 playoffs which it will host Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
The Bucks will take on Union City with the winner advancing to probably face Constantine in the district finals.
