Over a month into the girls' basketball season the Brandywine Bobcats finally had their first home game and walked away with a 52-42 victoryp over Berrien Springs. They have been on the road the first half of the season due to problems with the gym floor at the high school.
Though Brandywine was pumped up, the Shamrocks had a 14-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. But Brandywine quickly took the lead halfway through the second and held onto it for the rest of the game.
The Bobcats ended the first half ahead 24-18.
Brandywine seemed even more pumped up coming into the second half. The Bobcats tried to keep themselves out of reach going ahead by 15 points halfway through the third. Brandywine left the third quarter with a 40-27 lead.
Though Berrien Springs trailed the Bobcats from the second quarter on, the Shamrocks tried hard to make a comeback in the fourth. They even caused Brandywine to make quite a few turnovers.
At one point Berrien Springs cut the lead from 12 points down to 6, but the Bobcats were able to hang on to the lead and walked away with the 52-42 victory.
Brandywine's junior varsity team also walked away with its first home victory against Berrien Springs 54-49. Kelly Konopka had 26 points for the Bobcats, and Dana Sluder had 16 for the Shamrocks.
