Vikings escape with OT victory

Niles nearly let a 2-0 lead slip away Thursday in its soccer SMAC cross-over game. After letting Loy Norrix tie the game, the Vikings won the game in overtime.
It was their third overtime in four games. The victory moved Niles to 7-4-2.
The Vikings' Nick Sharkey scored first off a penalty kick at the 26:37 mark of the first half. Michael Tanke scored the second goal for Niles' 15 minutes later.
Loy Norrix added a goal before halftime to make the score 2-1 at the break.
Another goal in the second forced an extra period. In overtime, a Brett Borzsei goal gave Niles the victory.
Niles enjoyed a slight advantage in shots on goal,15-14. The Vikings had seven saves to Loy Norrix's five.
In the junior varsity match, Niles won 4-2. The Vikings got goals from Bryce Flannery, Zac Herrmann and two from Julian Freas.
