OWOSSO - The artwork of a Cassopolis artist, June Carey, will be exhibited by the Shiawassee Arts Council through Oct. 10. at its Art Center in Owosso.
Cary, who graduated from Michigan State University, will display acrylic and pastel paintings. She has done graduate work at the Stuttgart Art Institute, Germany, the Toledo Art Museum and the University of Notre Dame.
She loves to experiment taking chances with unusual color and discovering expressive layers of texture as her paintings progress.
She brings a sense of joy and light into her landscapes, protraying flowers, rocks, water, meadows, trees and beaches, in an impressionistic way.
Her sunlit studio is by Diamond Lake. She has had over 50 one-woman shows and her pastels were featured in the "American Artist" magazine.
Her work at this show will be seen with that of Jill Kline of Springport, who works with colored pencils and acrylics.
The gallery is at 206 Curwood Castle Park in Owosso.
