Eddies win, Ranger cagers beaten

BERRIEN SPRINGS - The Edwardsburg varsity basketball team opened up its Lakeland Conference schedule Tuesday night with a 39-29 victory over the host Lady Shamrocks.
Edwardsburg (3-2, 1-0) jumped out to a 10-5 first quarter lead and never looked back.
The Lady Eddies held by five points at halftime, 17-12, and by seven points entering the fourth quarter, 29-22.
Edwardsburg outscored Berrien Springs 10-7 in the final eight minutes to secure the victory.
Shelley Roberts and Chrissy Breisch both scored six points to lead the Lady Eddies offensively. Edwardsburg also got five points from Sarah Lange and four points from Julie Harness.
Berrien Springs was led by Christine Drach's nine points.
Cassopolis vs. Bridgman
The host Lady Rangers tasked defeat for the first time Tuesday night as visiting Bridgman scored a 63-47 Lakeland Conference victory.
The Lady Bees (3-0, 1-0) outscored Cassopolis 14-10 in the first period and then 18-9 in the second stanza to take a 32-19 lead at the intermission.
Both teams caught fire in the third quarter as Bridgman scored 13 points, while the Lady Rangers poured in 13 points.
Leading 45-32 heading into the final eight minutes, the Lady Bees held off the Lady Rangers by scoring 18 points. Cassopolis scored 15 points.
Bridgman's Heather Seyfred led all scorers with 29 points. The Lady Bees also got 11 points from Leanna Rice.
Cassopolis was led by Jealyn Foston's 19 points. Kesley Gordon added 10 points. Michelle James finished with six.
