Games canceled
CASSOPOLIS - The death of Trent Caudill due to an accident on Tuesday prompted Cassopolis Schools to cancel sports for the remainder of last week according to Athletic Director Hiawatha Francisco.
Those games included girls' basketball, football games, golf, cross country and tennis.
According to Francisco, Cassopolis and Gobles agreed to drop the contest from their schedules so that neither team would have to suffer a loss.
However, after informing the Michigan High School Athletic Association of their decision, Cassopolis was informed that it must forfeit its game.
Francisco said that the school plans to appeal the decision.
The MHSAA said that an appeal would be heard as early as Wednesday.
