Porter looks to Board of Works to reimburse attorney fees

CASSOPOLIS - Porter Township continues to pay a lawyer $250 an hour to fight the sewer project for which bonds have already been sold.
Proctor said Porter Township wants the BPW to take money raised by selling the bonds to "pay for their attorney to fight the project."
In other business at the meeting, actions by commissioners addressed development of a nine-month budget for 2005.
Chairman Robert Wagel, R-Wayne Township, appointed a salary study committee to recommend 2005 pay for elected officials and Undersheriff Rick Behnke at the Oct. 7 meeting.
Wagel named Commissioner Mike Raab, R-Cassopolis, to head the panel to study the salary increase that includes: Commissioners Debbie Johnson, D-Niles; Bruce Butchbaker, R-Marcellus; Ron Francis, R-Cassopolis; and David Taylor, D-Edwardsburg.
