EDWARDSBURG - Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Chief Kenneth Wray reports his officers are investigating a crash that occurred at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of M-62 and May Street.
A vehicle driven by William R. Parsons, 19, of Wenger Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., was eastbound on May Street. He stopped at the stop sign, according to witnesses, then proceeded across M-62, striking a vehicle driven by John H. Berg Jr., 74, of Brandy Creek, Edwardsburg.
Berg's vehicle was hit in the side, causing it to slide over to the side of the road, where it then rolled over and trapped Berg inside. Edwardsburg Fire Department assisted in extricating Berg from his vehicle. He was then transported to Elkhart, Ind., General Hospital by Edwardsburg Ambulance Service.
Parsons and his passenger, Brandon Ward, 18, of Elkhart Road, Edwardsburg, escaped injury in the crash. Police cited Parsons for failure to yield.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office assisted with directing the heavy traffic on M-62 at that time of day.
