Eddies finishes second at Lakeland Conference tourney

The Edwardsburg varsity golf team continued its season on Tuesday in the Lakeland Conference preseason tournament held at Pebblewood in Bridgman.
Edwardsburg finished second behind Coloma.
The Eddies shot 328 compared to 317 for the Comets. Cassopolis was third with a score of 334. Buchanan was fourth at 337 and Berrien Springs fifth at 348.
River Valley was sixth with a 354, while Bridgman was seventh with a 355.
Ryan Stoneburner led the Eddies with a round of 76. Jessie Johnson shot 89, while Kris Merrill shot 81, James Hentz shot 82, Mike Fentetti shot 92 and Tanner Leininger shot 94.
Medalist honors went to Buchanan's Nathan Layher with a 74.
At the Allegan Invitational on Aug. 12 Edwardsburg finished last in a field of 15 teams.
Plainwell won the invitational with a team total of 297.
Kalamazoo Hackett and Kalamazoo Christian tied for second with a team total of 309.
Finishing fourth was Big Rapids with a 319, while Allegan finished fifth with a 324.
Coloma took sixth with a score of 326.
Rounding out the order of finish were Schoolcraft (326), Parchment (332), Vicksburg (333), Otsego (335), South Haven (347), Comstock (354), Paw Paw (357), Kalamazoo Hackett II (360) and Edwardsburg (365).
Merrill shot 86 to lead the Eddies, who also got a 90 from Johnson, a 93 from Hentz and a 96 from Stoneburner.
Plainwell's Jeff Bronkema earned medalist honors with a 71, which included a hole-in-one.
