NILES - Ring Lardner Middle School principal Gary Garland is resigning from his position to take a job as a middle school principal in the Harper Creek school district.
Niles Community Schools Superintendent Doug Law said Garland's decision came from the fact that his wife currently lives in the area and is a secretary in the Harper Creek district, which is located just outside of Battle Creek.
Garland worked as principal of Ring Lardner for three years.
Law said the district will immediately begin looking for a replacement and the position will be posted immediately.
Niles Director of Curriculum Jim Craig will be working closely with the school to help them prepare for the upcoming school year, Law said.
Garland will also be working at Ring Lardner for a few more weeks before leaving for Harper Creek.
